I am very blessed by the initial response to my book, The Circle of Life. It's very encouraging to have the people of God say that it is helpful to them in their daily walk of faith.
Today I thought that I'd give you a little taster from the book; this is the opening chapter, entitled Act Naturally....

Don't just listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22)
I will show you my faith by what I do. (James 2:18)
Whatever he tells you to do, do it. (John 2:5)
In these studies on principles of faith we've rightly spent lots of time emphasising the importance of words, of hearing, of believing and of speaking. But unless we put this latest principle into practice all the others count for absolutely nothing. We have to do our faith...

They did not go in because of their unbelief. (Hebrews 4:6)
I was intending to write this principle of faith on the day I had a heart attack. I refuse to say my heart attack; I do not own it. It's something that happened to me but it has not become part of me. It's not mine. Why do I say that? Because I have learnt the power of disagreement. During these past weeks this is a principle of faith that I have come to cherish even more than before; and for those who know me, you will agree that it's something I have taught and preached on many times in the past couple of years. I believe that this principle of disagreement is so vital, because our confession determines our inheritance...

I tell you, that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them. (Jesus, in Matthew 18:19-20)
Now here's a real firecracker of a principle of faith; and is one I am learning to put into practice more and more. We can make things happen if we just agree together in faith...

I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (Jesus, in Matthew 17:20).
The next principle of faith that is important for the lifestyle of confession is speaking to the mountain, which on the surface seems an odd thing to do. But Jesus told us that if we do it with faith, then the mountain will move. We need to look a bit closer at what he meant...

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God. (Psalm 42:5)
In these studies on Principles of Faith, we have seen the power of confession - getting our mouths in gear. Here's a little gem within confession that is often overlooked...

...Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession. (1Timothy 6:13)
In our series on Principles of Faith we have reached the power of confession, and have discussed the importance of giving thanks in all circumstances. In addition to that we also need to get into the practice of confessing the Word of God...

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (1Thessalonians 5:18)
In this series on Principles of Faith (you can read the others by clicking on the Principles of Faith tab in the sidebar), we have discovered some very important aspects of living by faith. Last time we concluded that confession is an absolute must - not only for our salvation, but for our whole life as Christians. There is such a power in our words: power for life and power for death. We need to look at several practical ways of how that life of confession becomes part of us. Today we look at giving thanks in all circumstances...
